Position Title: Teacher -Elementary General Music (P-12)
Location: Jerger and Harper Elementary (will serve both locations)
Reports to: Principal
FLSA: Exempt
Start Date: 07/24/2023
Primary Function: Provide instruction for students that enables them to learn and achieve to the maximum of their abilities.
Requirements:
- Educational Level: Bachelor's Degree
- Certification/License Required: Valid Georgia Teaching Certification; Music (P-12)[FLD 767]
- Experience: None
- Physical Activities: Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities
- Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Written and Oral Communication; instructional strategies that connect the curriculum to the learners; student management
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
General:
- Maintains a pattern of prompt and regular attendance.
- Demonstrates professionalism by reporting to work and assigned duties on time.
- Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency in the use of computer applications as applicable to job responsibilities.

Teacher:
- Establishes a positive classroom climate and effectively manages music instruction within that environment.
- Selects music and music materials which are appropriate for teaching and performance, and which will contribute to the development of the student’s understanding and appreciation of music.
- Evaluates effectively student progress in terms of the purposes of the course and grade taught.
- Utilizes a variety of teaching strategies and resources appropriate for students assigned to the teacher.
- Assesses and encourages student progress by promoting engagement, monitoring student progress, responding to adequate and inadequate performances and showing support of students in an appropriate manner.
- Provides adequate information, plans, and materials for substitutes.
- Manages the learning environment by using time efficiently, maintaining an effective physical setting for instruction and maintaining appropriate student behavior in the classroom.
- Accepts constructive criticism and follows up on administrative actions for improving performance.
- Facilitates home-school communication by such means as holding conferences, telephoning, and sending written communications.
- Incorporates the use of technology into the instruction in an appropriate manner.
- performs other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator.
